ஏ.டீ.எம்(ATM) இயந்திரத்திலிருந்து வெளியே வந்த பணத்தை குறிப்பிட நேரத்திற்குள் எடுக்காவிட்டால் வெளியே வந்த பணம் திரும்பி உள்ளே செல்லும் முறையை ரிசெர்வ் பேங்க் கடந்த வாரம் முதல் தடை செய்துள்ளது.

தடைக்கு காரணம் என்ன?..



சிலர் வெளியே வந்த பணத்தில் ஒரு பகுதியை எடுத்துவிட்டு சிறிது நேரத்தில் மீதியை  ஏ.டீ.எம்மில் வைத்தால் ஏ.டீ.எம் திருப்பி எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும் பிறகு அந்த நபர் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட வங்கிக்கு சென்று வெளியே வந்த பணத்தை தான் எடுக்க வில்லை ஆனால் பணம் ஏ.டீ.எம் உள்ளே சென்று விட்டது என்று பொய்யான தகவல்களை தந்து ஏமாற்றியதாலும், இதனால் பல குழப்பங்கள் தொடர்ந்த வன்னம் இருந்துவந்ததாலும் இந்த தடை முடிவு எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக கூறப்படுகிறது.

இது குறித்து ஏ.டீ.எம் காவலாளிகள் கூறுவதாவது. "இதனால் நிறைய தவறுகள் நடக்க வாய்ப்புள்ளது. யாரவது வெளியே வந்த பணத்தை எடுக்க மறந்து சென்று விட்டால் அவருக்கு பின் பணம் எடுக்க வந்தவர்கள் பணத்தை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும் வாய்ப்புக்கள் அதிகமாக இருக்கிறது...இதுவரை நாங்கள் பணம் எடுக்க வருபவர்களிடம் அவர்களுடைய  உடமைகளை பத்திரமாக மறக்காமல் எடுத்துசெல்லுமாறு அறிவுறுத்துவோம்.. ஆனால் இனி பணத்தையும் சேர்த்து மறக்காமல் எடுத்து செல்லுமாறு சொல்லவேண்டும்..." என்று கூறுகின்றனர்.

இனி நீங்க ஏ.டீ.எம் இயந்திரத்திலிருந்து பணம் எடுக்கும் போது அலேர்டா இருக்கணும்!...மறவாமல் ஏ.டீ.எம்மில் இருந்து பணத்தை முழுவதுமாக எடுத்த பிறகே அந்த இடத்தை விட்டு நகர வேண்டுமாறு கேட்டுகொள்கிறேன்..

Hit by dubious claims, RBI junks ATM cash retraction

CHENNAI: The banks have done away with the cash retraction system in ATMs. The system, which enabled the machine to take back the currency if it is not removed within a certain time, was withdrawn last week after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) agreed to National Payments Corporation of India's proposal for removing the feature from all ATMs to deal with the increasing number of fraudulent claims about non-receipt of cash.

Banks have posted messages on their websites that the system has been disabled. The step has been taken to prevent the misuse of the system as RBI has received complaints about people trying to defraud banks by holding on to some withdrawn currency notes in ATMs and then claiming non-receipt of cash after the machine takes back the rest. The central bank also conducted a pilot project involving ATM machines without the cash retraction system.

Karur Vysya Bank managing director and chief executive K Venkataraman said the move was a positive one and in the interest of customers. T M Bhasin, chairman and managing director of Indian Bank, said, "It is a welcome move as it would help customers."

Some customers said the move was both good and bad. "Earlier, the customer was assured that the amount would be re-credited to his account if there was a delay in taking it out. Now, he has to be extra cautious as the next person entering the booth could take it away," said Stephen Isaac, a customer. Security guards posted at ATM booths have been a worried lot ever since the plan was implemented. K Raju, a guard at an ATM kiosk in Nungambakkam, said: "We have to be more alert now. If a customer leaves behind cash in the machine and somebody else takes it away, they could claim that we took it. Earlier, money used to go back into the customer's account."

V Senthilnathan, another guard posted at a Chetpet ATM, said it is the responsibility of customers to be alert and take the cash from the machine within the stipulated time. "In the past, we had to remind people to ensure they collected their belongings. Now, we have to remind them about the cash too."
