டீசல் விலை லிட்டருக்கு 5 ரூபாய் உயர்வு, இன்று நள்ளிரவு முதல் அமலுக்கு வருகிறது. மேலும், ஒரு குடும்பத்திற்கு 1 வருடத்தில் 6 சிலிண்டர்க்கு மட்டுமே அனுமதி என்றும் சொல்லப்படுகிறது.
பெட்ரோல் விலைஉயர்வு பேசிய காங்கிரஸ் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் ஹரீஷ் ரணாவத் எண்ணெய் நிறுவனங்கள் நஷ்டத்தில் இயங்குவதால் விலைஉயர்வு தவிர வேறு வழி இல்லை என்று குறிப்பிட்டார்.
மத்திய அரசு விலையேற்றத்திற்கு பிறகு விளையும் மக்களுடைய போராட்டத்தை எதிர்நோக்கியே லிட்டருக்கு டீசல் 5 ரூபாய் என்ற மிகவும் உயர்ந்த விலையை நிர்ணயம் செய்துள்ளது. மக்களுடைய போராட்டத்திற்கு பிறகு கண்டிப்பாக விலை குறைத்தாகவேண்டும், கிட்டத்தட்ட 1 ரூபாய் அல்லது 1.50 ரூபாய் குறைப்பார்கள் என்று மக்கள் கண்டிப்பாக நம்பலாம்.

The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs on Thursday approved a hike in diesel price by Rs. 5 per litre at a meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi.
The price of PDS kerosene was left unchanged.
The Finance Ministry had earlier in the day proposed a hike of at least Rs. 100 per cylinder of LPG and Rs. 4 per litre of diesel.
The government subsidises the prices of diesel, cooking gas and kerosene to dampen inflation and protect the poor, a popular policy that has put a severe strain on public finances.
The government has acknowledged earlier that a price hike is essential for curbing the fiscal deficit, a pre-condition for reviving growth in Asia's third largest economy. A price increase will also aggravate inflation, as costs, such as road freight rates, will rise.
State-run oil marketing companies are losing Rs. 550 crore everyday on under-recoveries as a result of higher crude prices in the global markets. They make a loss of Rs. 19/litre on diesel sales, Rs. 32.7/litre on kerosene sales, and Rs. 347/cylinder on cooking gas sales every day.
