Smoking scenes are allowed in Tamil cinemas:
Now the government has permitted using smoking scenes in films by giving a warning statement. The new notification has been ordered that the films showing a smoking scene, would show the actor giving a warning at the start of the film, in between after the interval a statutory message would be displayed in the smoking scenes.
This notification was given by a bench of justice P Sathasivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi. Senior counsel V Shekhar, appearing for the government, told the court that the notification, supersedes all earlier notification prohibiting smoking scenes would be issued on September 14.
They are asking to advice the filmmakers to give 20 second anti smoking message as approved by the ministry of health with a voice over of the actor who is seen smoking in the film. Actually we should be against smoking habits of the people in real life too.
